    Why aren’t my teeth white?

There are several factors as to why your teeth aren’t as white as you would like them to be. Some factors include:

    • Age
    • Injury
    • Genetics
    • Sickness
    • Medicine
    • Tobacco use
    • Contact with certain foods or drinks
    • Excess fluoride during tooth development

It’s time to stop wondering why your teeth aren’t as white as they once were and do something about it. Luckily, our staff at Dental Group at Polaris makes getting a whiter smile easier than ever. We use state of the art technology to provide clients with several whitening options.

How can I whiten my teeth?

Depending on the level of whitening you want, we offer both at-home and in-office teeth whitening options.

    Self-Applications

There are several at-home whitening options for you to choose from. Some common treatments include: whitening toothpastes, strips, and trays.

    Whitening Toothpaste

Toothpastes are the most mild option for whitening treatments. Whitening toothpaste is a fast and convenient option that can be done at home. This treatment rarely has any side effects because it uses a polishing action versus chemicals.

While whitening toothpaste can brighten your smile, it won’t make your teeth as white as other treatments that use chemicals. If used properly, it can whiten your teeth in as little as a few days or could take weeks to see results. Most whitening toothpastes are offered over the counter, however, not all have been verified by the American Dental Association or hold their Seal of Acceptance.

    Whitening Strips

There are many brands to choose from when it comes to over-the-counter whitening strips. Whitening strips can be fairly inexpensive and provide impressive results, however, they should be used as instructed. Contact us to see if whitening strips are a good option for you.

    Whitening Trays

We can create custom made trays for you to use at home with a whitening gel. Contact us at (614) 888-3692 to see if whitening trays are a good treatment option or if you have any questions.

    In-office Treatments

For a faster, more dramatic change to treat stubborn stains, we may recommend an in-office whitening treatment. Our highly skilled team is able to provide higher dosages of peroxide to get your teeth whiter, faster than you could at home. Certain treatments use a laser or light with the peroxide. To offer extra protection to gums, we may also use a gel or skinny sheet or rubber. While in-office treatments don’t offer all the convenience at home treatments can, the process is fast and show the most successful results.

How do I take care of my teeth after a whitening treatment?

For toothpastes and strips, read and follow the instructions provided on the packages carefully. If you choose a dental tray or in-office whitening procedure, we will give you thorough instructions on how to care for your teeth. Some people experience sensitivity in their gums and teeth from whitening treatments. For whiter teeth, avoid foods, drinks, and tobacco that may cause staining.

We take pride in delivering whiter smiles and happier clients from Lewis Center, Columbus, Powell, Westerville, Galena, and other neighboring communities. Take the first step to a whiter smile by calling us today at (614) 888-3692 to schedule an appointment.
