Luckily, at Dental Group at Polaris, you don’t have to deal with the headache of multiple visits to different offices as we happily treat every age group. With our conveniently located office, going to the dentist has never been easier! At Dental Group at Polaris, we are not just a dentistry serving clients from Lewis Center, Columbus, Powell, Westerville, Galena, and other nearby communities for over 31 years; we are a family. We treat every one of our patients like they are family, guiding them with sincere and attentive support every step of the way.
The Dental Examination
The American Dental Association recommends children and adults visit the dentist at least twice a year for an oral exam. At the exam, we will examine every tooth, surrounding tissues and gums, tongue, and cheeks. This allows us to check for cavities, inspect plaque levels to confirm the presence of gum disease, and assess any other issues that may need further treatment. Oral cancer screenings and examination of your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) will also be provided.
Our team can take comprehensive oral X-ray images at your initial checkup to assure the support and structure of your teeth are healthy and functioning properly. These images aid us in diagnosing cavities, identifying bone loss, and checking for abnormal lesions. Radiographs are not required at each visit, however, we strongly recommend them yearly and before specific oral treatments.
It is essential to us that our clients understand the necessary actions we take with each of our treatment options. Before we begin any dental work, we ensure our patients have a thorough understanding of our action plan and where they fit into it. Communication and education play key roles in providing transparent and effective service to our clients.
Professional cleanings on a regular basis are recommended to prevent or slow the process of gingivitis, tooth decay, and bone loss. Daily at home oral care is essential to maintaining good oral hygiene and preventing tooth decay and periodontitis, the two leading causes of tooth loss. Good oral hygiene consists of brushing at least two times a day, flossing, staying well hydrated with water, and avoid food and drinks that can harm your teeth. We can happily answer any questions you have and provide you with guidance to better oral care.
